About our Classes

So what makes our classes different from most other martial arts or many sports organizations?

Positive Environment

Each student is measured against his or her own ability, not against the ability of someone else.  We use various methods of positive reinforcement and recognition to motivate and help students learn to achieve their own potential and to recognize the importance of their accomplishments both in and out of class.  No child should have to be a bench-warmer as in some sports.  In addition to teaching a very fun and effective martial art, we focus on the physical and mental development of our individual students.  Our motto is "Every Kid is Special! Every Kid's a Winner!"

Life Skills

Life skills such as confidence, discipline, respect for others, courtesy, integrity, focus, and goal-setting are necessary ingredients for success in all areas of life.  We feel that these attributes are the foundations of success and what becoming a black belt is all about.  As a result, we place a high emphasis on teaching these qualities in a manner that will help the student relate them to all areas of their lives.  Both Tiny Tigers and Karate kids wear a Victory Patch on their uniform that allows them to display star awards that represent their accomplishments.  Different color stars represent accomplishment from various achievement areas such as Taekwondo, academics, special performance, and good deeds.  Our goal is to reinforce behaviors that are important to parents and that are necessary for success.

Our Tiny Tiger™ classes are specifically geared toward the learning style of young children.  Tiny Tigers learn the same curriculum and material as the older kids and adults, only at their own level.  Just like the Karate Kids, the Tiny Tiger program helps young children to develop confidence, self-esteem, structure, discipline, and many other life skills that will help them become successful throughout their lives.

The Karate Kids™ program is designed for older kids, where we focus on the same important life skills as our Tiny Tigers, but at a higher level.  As they learn the art of Taekwondo, we continually reinforce life skill themes through their training such as confidence, goal-setting, persistence, self-esteem, discipline, and many other life skills that will help them learn to be more successful as they mature and face more complex issues.

Adult Taekwondo

The goals of our adult students vary quite a bit, but some of the things our adult students enjoy are good workouts, training for competition, training as a family, or just getting rid of a little stress from the day's work.  Once you start coming, you'll be hooked!
